This information is primarily stored locally on your device and, if you enable it, synchronized through your personal iCloud account.
How We Use Your Information
The data collected is used solely to enhance your experience with Rune:
- To provide the core journaling functionality
- To generate AI-powered insights and analysis
- To create personalized writing prompts
- To enable chat conversations with your journal
- To track mood patterns and emotional trends
- To synchronize your journal across your devices (via iCloud)
AI Processing and Text Analysis
When you use our AI features (including chat with your journal, mood analysis, pattern recognition, and prompt generation), your journal content may be sent to our AI provider for temporary processing. This data is used only to generate insights, suggestions, or responses based on your journal entries. The data is not stored permanently by our AI provider and is used solely to process your request.
The mood analysis and pattern recognition features are designed to help you reflect on your journaling patterns and emotional expressions as part of the journaling experience. These features are not intended to provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and should not be used as a substitute for professional mental health services.
Free tier users have limited access to these AI features (30 prompts, 20 mood analyses, 20 insights, and 30 chat messages per month), while Premium subscribers have unlimited access to all AI functionality.
iCloud Synchronization
If you enable iCloud synchronization, your journal entries and app data will be stored in your personal iCloud account to enable access across your devices. This data storage and synchronization is governed by Apple's privacy policies. We do not have direct access to the data stored in your iCloud account.
Security Features
Rune offers several security features to protect your journal data:
- Optional encryption for sensitive entries
- Face ID/Touch ID protection to restrict app access
- Local data storage with secure handling
These security features are designed to ensure that your personal reflections remain private and protected.
Data Security and Retention
Your data is stored securely on your device and, if enabled, in your iCloud account. It is not transmitted to our servers except when using AI features, and even then, it is only temporarily processed and not retained by the AI provider. Your journal data remains on your device and in your control until you choose to delete it.
Connection to MyVacationPlans.com
Rune is developed by the team behind MyVacationPlans.com. While the apps are complementary (allowing you to journal during your travels), they operate independently in terms of data storage and processing. Your journal entries in Rune are not shared with your MyVacationPlans account unless you explicitly choose to export and share them.
Your Rights
You have the right to access, update, or delete your personal data at any time. Rune provides options to export your journal entries and delete your data directly from the app. If you have any questions or concerns about your data, please contact our support team.
